Sundial Studies by Ben Medansky

225.00

As daylight waned under the late November sky in 2016, Medansky became fascinated with tracking the movement of the sun's gleaming rays as it touched the buildings on Headlands' campus. His memory of distinct, angular shadows helped him fabricate a unique edition of thirty sundial studies, which will track the sun's shadow from your desktop.

Sundial Studies
2017
Terracotta
Edition of 30 signed on verso
5.25 x 4 x 3 inches

ABOUT THE MAKER:
Ben Medansky’s desire to make forms was forged by the bright blue skies and soaring mineral formations of his home state of Arizona. Informed by his studies at his alma mater, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Medansky then moved west and found the city of Los Angeles to be the perfect environment for defining his ceramic practice. His work culminates these three landscapes, focusing on natural formations, reconstruction, and varied architectural styles that create meditations on minimalism and dares to control chaos.
